Our Hiking Tip
The Pleisenhütte (1,757 m) is a privately owned mountain hut on the western foothills of the Karwendel main ridge. It is located at the foot of the Pleisenspitze and is most easily reached from Scharnitz. The hike from the parking lot in the Karwendeltal takes about 2 1⁄2 hours. The hut was built in 1953 and 1954 by Toni Gaugg, also known as “Pleisentoni.” Without any mechanical assistance, he carried all the materials needed for construction up from the valley. In 1981, the hut was expanded to its current size. The wide trail from Scharnitz up to the Pleisenhütte is also very popular with mountain bikers. More tips from our blog.
