CHALETS

Important Information and Interesting Background on the Topic: CHALETS

A chalet is traditionally a simple hut or vacation home in the mountains. Originally, the term “chalet” was used to describe a hut used by mountain farmers or shepherds as accommodation. Nowadays, however, the term has evolved and refers to comfortable and luxurious holiday homes in mountain regions.

Chalets are often made of wood and have a cozy atmosphere. They are usually equipped with a kitchen, a living room, bedrooms and bathrooms. Many chalets also offer a private sauna or a jacuzzi to allow guests maximum relaxation.

The concept of chalets originates from the Alpine regions, especially from Switzerland, Austria and France. Today, however, chalets can be found in many mountainous areas around the world, such as the Rocky Mountains in Canada or in the Scharnitz region between the Wetterstein Mountains and the Karwendel.
