HISTORY OF THE CHALETS AND NAMES OF THE TWO LODGES<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Did you know that…<\/h4>\n

for many years the “upper and lower Bichl” here in this beautiful area, at the entrance to the Karwendel valley on the Isar, has always belonged to the Manzl family through the grandparents of the present owner Mario?<\/p>\n

But from the beginning…<\/h4>\n

Around 1950, his grandparents Edburg (Burgi) and Johann (Hans) farmed this open land because they needed the hay for their farm. At the time, it belonged to Burgi\u2019s family and was divided equally among her four daughters. However, two of her sisters had no interest in the \u201cBichl,\u201d as they called the property. So Burgi came up with the idea of buying it and had a vision of turning it into building land for her five children and their descendants.
\nIn 1972, she was able to purchase two-fourths from two of her sisters and, from then on, owned three-fourths of the property. The remaining quarter was acquired later. Unfortunately, she passed away in 1991. She was a very loving and warm mother and grandmother, was always there for everyone, and told her grandchildren the most amazing stories; astrology was her passion. <\/p>\n

She was a very clever and far-thinking woman<\/h4>\n

Her 5 children then inherited her beautiful sunny “Bichl” and tried to make her vision come true and continued to work on having the land converted into building land. In 1995, Burgi’s youngest son, who incidentally still lives in Scharnitz, was able to acquire the rest of the quarter and the whole area now belonged to the Manzl family. Unfortunately, however, it proved to be very difficult to develop the access road, canal, water, sewage and electricity. Retaining walls had to be built, not to mention the costs. Burgi and Hans’ second son had experience in this. He worked as a master builder and was able to make his mother Burgi’s vision possible so that it could be built on. A small part had to be sold for this (to cover the costs of development), but most of the land remained in the family. It took years, but in 2014 the time had finally come. <\/p>\n

It was land zoned for development<\/h4>\n

However, their five children were now well taken care of and had established their own homes, so they decided to pass the property on to the next generation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Subsequently, in 2016, Mario, the grandson of Burgi and Hans, purchased most of the property from his uncles and an aunt. He also worked for many years as a foreman in the construction industry and has extensive experience in building houses. So, that same year, he began planning and developing the property. <\/p>\n<\/div>

2017<\/h4><\/div>

In 2017, with the construction of the main chalet with 2 suites and the Karwendelh\u00fctte on the “upper Bichl” (as you can see it here today), he founded his vacation home rental Alpe Chalets Goldener Hirsch.<\/p>\n<\/div>

In 2021, he began building even more chalets in the \u201clower Bichl\u201d area.
\nA chalet with two suites, where his sister Iris Manzl (the granddaughter of Burgi and Hans) also fulfilled a dream and purchased one of the two vacation apartments in the family\u2019s hometown.<\/p>\n<\/div>

In addition, there are two lodges, each measuring 130 square meters, that form a detached chalet. These were given particularly beautiful names. After hearing this story, you can probably guess how the names for these two lodges came about. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Grandma and Grandpa made it possible years ago<\/h4>\n

They built a business that has lasted for generations. And now Mario, the current owner, wants to give something back and has named his two new chalets Edburg\u2019s Lodge and Johann\u2019s Lodge, in memory of his grandparents and as a tribute to his very wise grandmother, Burgi. <\/p>\n

She would certainly be proud if she could see what\u2019s now on \u201cher little hill\u201d and what it has become.<\/p>\n<\/div>

In 2024, we decided to expand our offerings in a targeted way, with the goal of also offering smaller suites for just two people in the future. Many of our guests travel as couples or are looking for a cozy getaway for two, and we wanted to meet that need. <\/p>\n

That’s how the idea for four new chalet suites, suitable for both couples and families, came about.<\/div>

In June 2025, we held a grand opening ceremony for the new suites. They are named after typical Alpine inhabitants and reflect the character of our region: <\/p>\n
